Dug-Up seedlings for sale: August 1 to August 31, 2008

This year, 2008, we are again offering a limited number of cymbidium seedlings as "Dug-Up" straight out of flats ready to be planted into 2 or 3 inch pots. These seedlings have a minimum 8 inch leaf length but are usually larger. "Dug-Up" seedlings are about 1 year out of flask, and are 4-6 years from blooming size.

These "Dug-Up" seedlings are priced at $3.00 each with a minimum of 5 plants of each cross number, a maximum of 10 plants of any one cross number, and a minimum order of 15 plants. "Dug-Up" seedlings will be mailed bare root and postage paid. Quantity discounts do not apply to this "Dug-Up" sale. Orders may be placed by fax or e-mail, but will be held till payment arrives unless credit card information is included on the fax or phoned in. "Dug-Up" seedlings are available by mail order ONLY.

This is the current listing for cymbidium "Dug-Up" seedlings, and supersedes all previous lists. This list will be updated as crosses are sold out. Please provide cross numbers for substitution in case your first choices are sold out. We will substitute for any cross that is sold out with our selection unless alternate crosses are listed.

The first line for each cross contains the cross number and name of the hybrid (if any). The second line is the names of the parents. The third line is the expected appearance of the flower. Click on the highlighted parent name to see photos of that particular parent.


LB 1566 Cym. Milton Carpenter
Cym. Via Ambarino 'Highland' FCC/AOS x Cym. Golden Elf 'Sundust' 4N
This is a remake of the famous cross of Milton Carpenter. These will be yellow 3-4 inch flowers with red spotted lips blooming in October, and most will be warmth tolerant.

LB 1567 Cym. Song of Spring
Cym. Lady Spring 'Geyserland' x Cym. Vogelsang 'Eastborne' 4N
This is a remake of a good red novelty hybrid. These will be free blooming red 2.5 inch flowers with beautiful arching spikes from Vogelsang. Most should bloom in mid-March.

LB 1568 Cym. Love Potion
Cym. Peetie 'Golden Harvest' x Cym. So Bold 'Lemon Surprise'
This is a remake of a fragrant cross. Nearly all of these should be have a good citrus like fragrance. The flowers will be mostly in the tan to bronze shades.

Cym. Helen Tangcay 'Charming' HCC/AOS S/CSA x Cym. Vogelsang 'Eastborne' 4N
This cross should produce 3 inch round pink novelty flowers on arching spikes for March blooms.

LB 1580 Cym. Street Hawk
Cym. Claude Pepper 'Dragon's Blood' x Cym. Ruby Eyes 'Red Baron' 4N AM/AOS AD/CSA
This is a remake of a free blooming dark red novelty cross for February and March blooms. Most will have arching spikes.

We expect mostly large bright yellow round flowers with red lips from this cross. There could be some awards here.

We expect mostly 4 inch bright yellow round flowers with red lips from this cross. The bloom season should be February and March.

This cross should have mostly bright green flowers on 4' long pendant spikes. Some will be spotted. They should flower in April and be very long lasting.

Cym. Scarlet Beauty 'After Dark' HCC/AOS B/CSA x Cym. Sensational Vintage 'The Giant'
Both parents are very dark reds, and these have the potential to be some of the darkest red cymbidiums to date. They should have 4 inch flowers with dark red lips and should bloom in March.

Both parents are very dark reds, and these have the potential to be some of the darkest red cymbidiums to date. They should have 4 inch flowers with dark red lips and should bloom in March.

We think this cross has the potential to produce some nice orange to yellow with red blush flowers for February and March blooms.

This cross should produce bright green to yellow green 3 inch round flowers on 4 foot long pendant spikes for April blooms. Could be an award or two.

This cross should be mostly bright green 3 inch flowers on long 4 foot pendant spikes. Some could be concolor with clear yellow lips.

This cross should provide mostly bright yellow to light orange flowers with red lips on medium spikes for March blooms.

We believe this cross has good potential for producing some nice orange flowers with bright red lips on medium spikes for March blooms

This is a remake of a good green. The flowers should be 4.5 inch bright green with red lips on medium to long spikes for March and April.

LB 1619 Unnamed Cymbidium Hybrid very limited quantities!
Cym. Yamanashi Fire 'Burgundy' x Cym. San Elijo 'Midnight'
'Burgundy' is the best of the Yamanashi Fire cross that we have bloomed out, and is a dark burgundy red. With the round, dark San Elijo, we expect to get mostly deep burgundy red round 4 inch flowers in March. There should be some awards here.

This cross should produce some deep yellow to orange 4 inch flowers on medium spikes for March.

This is a remake of a prolific red 3 inch novelty cross with medium arching spikes in March.

This is another cross with the potential to produce deep 4 inch reds on medium spikes for March. Possible awards.

This could be a rather variable cross, with colors from bright red to purple red to brown. The flowers should be about 5 inches across and bloom in March.

This cross should be mostly pink to light red 3 inch novelty flowers on medium arching spikes for March.

A remake using the large bright red James Toya 'Ohana'. These should be larger, and flatter than the original cross.

Mixed Cymbidium hybrid grab bag
We have a few crosses we have where the numbers are too limited to list, but where we have some extra plants of the same size as our dug-up seedlings. These are the same price as the regular dug-up seedlings but are our choice. If you feel adventurous or can't make up your mind what to get, try these.
